Intro
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a common-sense tax break that reduces the income tax owed by lower-wage working families, allowing them to contribute more to vibrant local economies.
Many hard-working Ocean State families are struggling to pay for housing, heat, food, and health care. Federal and state EITCs helps working families close that gap, providing a refundable tax credit based on their income and family size. Rhode Island policymakers can help build an economy that works for everyone by strengthening the state’s earned income tax credit.

Legislation
Legislation introduced by Representative Slater and Senator Felag ensures that working Rhode Islanders will be able to keep more of their hard earned dollars and help our local small businesses. By increaseing the Rhode Island EITC credit from 15% of the federal EITC to 18% or even 20%, we can help low- and middle-income working Rhode Islanders.
The Rhode Island EITC Coalition consists of the following member organizations who work hard everyday for Rhode Island’s working families:

The Economic Progress Institute
Federal Hill House
